Pump Project is pleased to present THE TESLA PROJECT, an all-day extravaganza dedicated to celebrating the genius of Nikola Tesla, a visionary scientist and engineer whose electrical inventions transformed the world. His most famous inventions include: AC power, the induction motor, fluorescent lighting, and radio.

THE TESLA PROJECT is for all ages, free (except for $5 to see ArcAttack) and open to the public.

There will be

  • live music during the day, including ArcAttack as the headlining act. This performance-based band uses Tesla coils in their act as well as a Faraday suit. ArcAttack was featured on the NBC 2010 program of America’s Got Talent.
  • a Tesla-inspired art show, juried by Debra Broz, who was recently selected for Austin Museum of Art’s “New Art In Austin: 15 to Watch.”
  • live screen printing by Twin Villain. We’ll have several t-shirt designs to choose from. You’ll be able to pick out a shirt and a screen, and it’ll be screen-printed as you wait.
  • two films, All About Tesla and the short The History of Nikola Tesla – a Short Story throughout the day.
  • two Tesla Roadsters — zero-emissions cars that can go from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds.
  • Craig Newswanger doing something awesome. (Last year he presented on how to build your own Tesla Coil, and this year he’s planning something new, so stay tuned!)
  • performance artist Professor Conrad and group with THEGIANTBRAIN.
  • a team from Bits, Bytes & Bots with robots and computer activities for children.
  • Lyman Grant, Dean of Arts and Humanities at ACC, reading his Tesla-inspired poem.
  • plenty of food and drink vendors to keep you full and hydrated.

Our SCHEDULE is being updated on a regular basis. Be sure to check back!

WANT TO HELP UP SPREAD THE TESLA LOVE?
To help sponsor our event, please contact the team at TheTeslaProject@gmail.com. Want to donate your time instead? We’re also seeking volunteers. To sign up, visit www.mysignup.com/tesla

Yep, we have pizza now too. We’ll keep you fed while you’re watching robots, listening to talks on innovative LEDs, being wowed by Tesla-inspired art and poetry, getting your hair feathered, or listening to music (some things have been left out but you get the drift). This is going to be awesome!

MMMpanadas has signed up again this year as a food vendor.

The Best Wurst will be there as well, but only until 7, so get your wurst early if you’re hankering for one.

Pure Rain will be selling bottled rain water. (The owner is an engineer, so make sure you say hi and ask her about her love for Tesla. It’s genuine.)

Hotel Vegas will be supplying a plethora of drinks.

Please, no outside food and beverages. This event is almost FREE for you (ArcAttack has a charge). By buying from our vendors and artists, money will be kicked back to us to cover our event expenses. And you’ll want us to want to do this again next year because it is that cool!

Are you a Tesla Fan?

We’re winding down, and look, making fans just for you! They are artist carved, printed, stamped and assembled by Cathy Savage and Carolyn Kimball and available for purchase.

A couple of reminders: chairs or blankets are encouraged for band watching prior to ArcAttack. Plus, consider packing sunscreen and a can of mosquito spray. We’ll have food and beverages for sale, so please no outside food and drink. Water is encouraged if you’d like to bring your own water bottle, though we will have a vendor–Pure Rain–selling delicious filtered rain water.

Digital Music, Ikipr

Ikipr performs at 2 PM. When asked what he has in store for us, he said “I am planning a live PA set which may involve two MIDI-networked laptops and EEG triggering of sound.” We were intrigued so we asked for further information. And here it is:

Ikipr has been writing music which parallels his exploration of alternative science, technology and magick for over 10 years. By using musical note correspondences found in the journal of Charles Henry Allan Bennett by Paul Foster Case, Ikipr attempts to map symbolic & archetypal forces through sound & art. His music is written in parameters ascribed to astrological signs, planets, tarot, Hebrew, Qabbalah and Alchemy. In this manner songs are similar to a ritualistic setting in which every aspect of sound goes toward building an aural-environment akin to a magickal space or ritual. This form and structure is given life within the listeners’ subjective experience by employing these correspondences alongside planetary tuning, brainwave entrancement, EEG sound triggering, cutups, planetary orbit frequencies as tempos, radionic tones, image to sound methods, various forms of audio cryptography, and random algorithms as a means to synchronicity. He volunteers as the media department to Borderland Sciences Research Foundation at borderlands.com.

His primary webpage is http://81diamondplex.com/999 and he has run the netlabel http://aleph9.com since 2005.
